Spindle

Spindle is a macOS menu bar client for Sendspin. It discovers Sendspin servers on the local network and plays synchronized audio through the Mac's current output device.

The menu provides:

• Playback and transport controls
• Now-playing metadata and album artwork
• Codec selection
• Group and player volume controls
• A configurable client name
• Connection restart and status information

Requirements

• macOS 15 or later
• Swift 6.2 or later
• A running Sendspin server on the local network

Swift Package Manager resolves SendspinKit from GitHub automatically. The package URL is declared in Package.swift.

For side-by-side development with a local SendspinKit checkout, use SwiftPM's local package override from the Spindle directory:

swift package edit SendspinKit --path LocalPackages/SendspinKit

Remove the override to return to the GitHub dependency:

swift package unedit SendspinKit

Build and test

From the Spindle directory:

swift build
swift test

To run the application from the command line:

swift run

The advertised client name can be overridden for a single launch with:

SENDSPIN_CLIENT_NAME="Living Room" swift run
