fix: skip postinstall when project has no package.json - #151
Conversation
checkSimpleGitHooksInDependencies (called from postinstall.js outside a try/catch) crashed with an uncaught ENOENT when the resolved project directory had no package.json, failing the whole install (toplenboren#112). - checkSimpleGitHooksInDependencies returns false when there's no package.json, so postinstall skips instead of throwing. - _getPackageJson guards with fs.existsSync so its documented "Package.json doesn't exist" error is thrown instead of a raw statSync crash (the previous check was dead code, statSync threw first). Adds a regression test.

Guard the complete package lookup.
If package.json disappears after line 157, statSync or readFileSync in _getPackageJson can throw ENOENT. Catch ENOENT around the complete lookup and return false. Re-throw parse and permission errors. This also applies to lines 334-335.

Use a real (mkdtemp) directory that exists but has no package.json to match the postinstall scenario in toplenboren#112, rather than a fully-nonexistent path. Still fails on the original code (statSync ENOENT) and passes with the fix.
Closes #112
postinstall.jscallscheckSimpleGitHooksInDependencies(projectDirectory)outside its try/catch. When the resolved project directory has nopackage.json(certain yarn/monorepo/CI layouts, as in #112),_getPackageJson'sfs.statSync(...)throws an uncaughtENOENTand fails the whole install.Fix:
checkSimpleGitHooksInDependenciesreturnsfalsewhen there's nopackage.json(we're not in a project that depends on simple-git-hooks) → postinstall skips gracefully, matching the issue's "don't do anything when package.json not exists"._getPackageJsonnow guards withfs.existsSyncso its documented"Package.json doesn't exist"error is actually thrown — the old!fs.statSync(...).isFile()was dead code becausestatSyncthrew first.Reproduced locally
